The European project group Autostack-CORE comprises three vehicle manufacturers, three system integrators and three component manufacturers as well as five research institutes – the projectcoordinator is ZSW Ulm. The aim of the project is to develop new fuel cells that fullfill vehicle requirements in terms of performance, service life and safety as well as enabling a significant reduction in costs. After just 20 months, the project has now succeeded in developing a 95-kW fuel cell stack. With a weight of 47 kg, a volume of 35 l, and a power densitiy of 2.7 kW/l, it isdesigned for mobile application in cars. First uses in vehicles canbe expected after a further two design loops; however, the stackis already fit for the test bench now. This success represents a decisivestep in closing the gap to competitors in Japan and Canada.
